Striving to honour the heritage of Naples, 800 Degrees Pizza is one of the best pizzas I’ve had in Dubai.
Ed (the boyfriend) had already tried it out before, and he raved about it every time we passed the restaurant next to the cinema in Mall of the Emirates. So when I was invited for a review, it was a no brainer!
Reviews usually swing one of two ways – either you’re left to your own devices, to order whatever you want from the menu, or the chef/manager takes you under their wing, and sorts you out with all the best sellers on the menu. In this case, it was the latter. We worked our way through starters through to mains and finished with dessert.
The tomato soup (which I usually wouldn’t think to order in a pizza restaurant) was unmatched – creamy, tomato-y, and just the right amount. Then came the burrata salad, which melted in your mouth like you wouldn’t believe, and oh so delish the spicy feta garlic bread. Head chef Rosario also suggested we try one pizza and one pasta, so we opted for a classic penne dish, where the pesto is mixed with whipping cream to give it a seriously creamy finish, and, much to Ed’s delight, a meat adorned pizza. I’m not a big meat eater, especially when it’s on pizzas, but this pizza barely touched the sides, and every last crumb was gone off my plate within minutes. With eyes much bigger than our bellies, we were way too full for dessert, but Rosario insisted we try their best famed tiramisu, so we did our best to spoon a few mouthfuls of the creamy best-selling dish into our mouths. Coffee isn’t really my thing, but I can imagine if you like it, this dessert would be a winner.
