Beauty Launches January 2017
Why I Love It: I don’t often wear lipsticks, but when I do they’re matte. When you have such oily skin the last thing you want is a glossy finish on your lips – I’m trying to avoid sheen, after all -, so I’ve definitely tried my fair share of matte lippies. Rimmel are easily my favourite high street (or ‘drug store’) brand for make-up, because the prices are so affordable and the product is always a great quality. So far I’ve tried the reds and the nudes (still looking for an occasion where I can pull off the darker purples!), and I have not been disappointed. On second thought, I’m get to find a Rimmel product I don’t like!
Why I Love It: Through the use of minerals and plant based formulas, Clarins have launched your new answer to bare-faced beauty. Part of the Skin Illusion line, the loose powder is supposed to be an alternative to liquid or creamy foundation. I’m not typically a fan of powdery products on my skin, as I think they make my make-up look cakey, but I tried this product out by using the little brush to dust a thin layer of powder over my face, once my primer and foundation had set, and I absolutely loved it. For me, this product works best almost as a setting powder, or an extra bit of coverage when you’ve applied your base make-up.
Why I Love It: Ok so I know I’ve already featured Chloé’s Eau de Parfum before, but I was recently set the gift set, which boasts an additional body lotion, and when the bottle is as Instagrammable as this, how could you resist sneaking in a second post?! When you live in a country like the UAE, the weather is hot all year round, meaning I’m constantly lathering my legs and arms in moisturiser every morning, trying to avoid falling victim to dry and flakey skin. This means one beauty product I can never have enough of is body lotion, and this little beauty from Chloé is sitting proudly (and prettily) on my make-up table.
What: Nuxe opens it’s first spa in Dubai at So Spa, Sofitel The Palm
Why I Love It: Nuxe is one of those brands that I always hear so much about but have never really tried for myself. Well, that all changed when I was invited to the launch of Nuxe at So Spa, and went home with a bag of goodies to try for myself. Favourites? Easily the Nuxellence night cream (which may or may not have something to do with the fact the name of the product is a PUN…), and the factor 6 tanning oil, because a sun-worshipper like myself is always on the look out for her next SPF fix!
Why I Love It: My fave nail varnish has released six brand new shades to sink your teeth (or nails) into. I’ve been a loyal customer of Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails nail strengthener for about five years now, which makes me fall all the more in love with these polishes: not only do they have a fab pigment, so you don’t have to layer four or five coats of colour on, but they also boast a strengthening and growth treatment in the formula. Triple threat!
