The new Westin hotel has opened its doors in Al Habtoor City, bringing with it a brand new gastropub serving classic American dishes, succulent steaks and plenty of delicious wine. Here’s your first look at Cook Hall.
If you’re after hearty, comfort food and a bevvie or two, then I’ve got just the place for you. Sink into the squiggy leather booths at The Westin‘s Cook Hall, and while away a stressful week at work with a glass of wine, hand-crafted cocktail or one of the restaurant’s drawn brews.
The starters are very much bar-centric dishes with an American twist. We kicked off the night with a big bowl of crunchy nachos with all the trimmings, cheesy meatballs and popcorn chicken – not one for health conscious folk. For mains we all went with steak. Juicy pieces of meat with a sauce of your choice were delivered to our table atop chunky wooden chopping boards and a flurry of side dishes. The wine was poured generously by attentive staff who catered to our every need. We shared two desserts between four: a sticky toffee pudding (because by now we all know that it’s Ed’s absolute favourite) and a slice of chocolate cake that had a warm chocolate sauce oozing down the sides.
A pleasant little find and with a very well priced menu. We’ll be back, Cook Hall!
