It’s finally cooling down in Dubai! This means we’re in the midst of a rooftop restaurant renaissance, and I have just the place to get you started.
40 Kong, in Dubai’s H Hotel, has had a super sleek redesign, bringing with it a new set menu that is set to delight the taste buds.
Up in the stars, amongst the city’s twinkling lights, Ed and I sit at our table (me with my back to the skyline, because I am unjustly terrified of heights – lol) and order a glass of prosecco. It’s a set menu, so we sit back and let the waiters take the reigns.
To start, honey-roasted goat cheese with beetroot, walnut and figs arrives at our table, with a watermelon and feta salad and oven-basked artichokes not far behind. If you saw my Instastory from this evening, you’ll know that we seriously indulged when it came to mains; a whole grilled sea bass, chicken cotoletta and, my favourite dish of the night, a most divine lobster linguine. We washed it all down with one more glass of prosecco and were suitably stuffed. Normally, after a heavy dinner, dessert is the last thing on my mind, but one of the things 40 Kong seriously got right was finishing the night with fresh fruit salad – a welcomed change to a gluttonous chocolate pudding.
By home time (11pm), the DJ was in full house music mode and the restaurant and bar were buzzing, with not one spare seat in sight. I’d definitely make this my local watering hole if Downtown Dubai was my neck of the woods!
