One of two newly opened restaurants by the acclaimed David Myers, Blue Blanc has opened its doors at the Renaissance Downtown Hotel and boasts all the the charm of the French countryside – this side of the Mediterranean ocean, of course.
Well worth the trip if, like me, you live a little farther afield, this Business Bay-based restaurant has shot to the top of my ‘I-highly-recommend-this’ list for both the quality of food and cosy corners just begging to be Instagrammed.
Think French farmhouse-inspired décor with rustic wooden finishes, shabby chic furniture with touches of azure blue, met with seamless service and a menu of French signatures.
Our meal started as all good French stories do, with bubbles, proper carbs and lots of butter. The wagyu tartare, pesto ravioli, lobster rolls and foie gras washed down with a few glasses of the Chateau Langlois – l’extra brut, for those who like a dry sparkling wine – was the most delicious start to the meal. For mains we moved onto steak and the king crab leg, which we shared with some veggie side dishes. Dessert was a heavenly mix of a sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and a chocolate, ice cream concoction that we licked clean off the plate.
