Here’s your first look inside Italian dining concept Larte.
Last Thursday, I rang Larte and asked them to push my table back by half an hour. Without even asking my name, the customer service rep made the necessary changes. “How do you know which table I’m sitting at?” I asked. “Because there is only one table reservation tonight,” he replies. One table reservation in the whole restaurant on Thursday night – what had I got myself in for?
We arrived at the restaurant and there was not a soul in sight. Seeing as we were at an Italian, it would almost be rude not to order a round of Aperol Spritz. Dubai really, really struggles to make a good Aperol, so I wasn’t getting my hopes up, but they arrived at the table, in all their blood orange glory, and they were delicious. Ok, so they’ve nailed the cocktails – maybe it’s the food that’s the problem?
For starters we ordered the burrata, truffle arancini and calamari – all three dishes were absolutely delicious and we pretty much licked the plate clean. We shared the capricciosa pizza, spaghetti alle vongole, seared tuna salad and striploin beef tagliata for mains (there were four people round the table, don’t worry!). Again, every dish was delectable and we barely left a morsel of food. We even finished the evening with a shot on Limoncello. The desserts were a bit of a let down – the nutella waffles were glorious, but the chocolate cake was slightly too dry for me.
A licensed restaurant in the heart of d3, serving delicious Italian cuisine – I really can’t put my finger on why Larte was so empty on the first night of the weekend. Prices on the menu are super affordable, so I highly recommend this dining concept to all who loves a taste of la dolce vita.
