A brainchild of the guys behind Tom & Serg, The Sum Of Us, Common Grounds (you can totes tell by the quirky interiors), Muchachas is the latest Mexican restaurant to hit Dubai.
From the extremely unpretentious atmosphere (meals are served on plastic plates and staff are as personable as they come), to the lashings of pink pastel paint on the wall, this is definitely one of the best places I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing (and photographing)!
Let’s start with the most important part: the cantina is licensed. Yes, cocktails, beers, wines – they’re all there! During our meal, I guzzled down two delicious watermelon margaritas with processo, and Ed kicked back with a couple of ice old Sol beers. The chef’s treated us to the “fiesta” menu, which costs Dhs225 per person and is a set meal of all the chef’s best choices – you don’t have to order a thing! Favourite dishes were of course the fresh guav, the grilled flank steak tacos and the build-your-own shrimp fajitas,which were nothing short of an explosion of flavour, thanks to its creamy, cheesy sauce, which was serve in a fresh pineapple. For dessert we ate sweetcorn sundae, a corn and blackberry cake served with caramel and popcorn. (At first I secretly hoped they’d bring us the churros, but I swiftly changed my mind when I saw they were covered in liquorice sugar).
