Welcome to Smartline Eriyadu, Maldives…
If you’re looking for a slightly more affordable resort in the Maldives that boasts an all-inclusive offer and doesn’t scrimp on those white sandy beach and crystal clear blue waters you’ve seen on Instagram, then Smartline Eriyadu is your place.

Located 42km north of Malé, the island is easily accessibly via a 45 minute boat ride. If you’ve never been to the Maldives before, then trust me when I say this is crucial information. A seaplane or domestic flight will set you back hundreds and hundreds of dollars, so any hotels that are reachable by boat are your first port of call if you’re trying to keep the cost down.
As soon as you step foot on Eriyadu, say goodbye to your shoes, because you’ll be barefoot for the rest of your stay. The hotel boasts a decorative island theme, where floors are removed in favour of sand between your toes at all times.
The rooms are cute, modest and have everything you’ll need – including an outdoor bathroom! No, Eriyadu doesn’t have any houses on stilts in water that people think are inherently Maldivian, but you know what? You absolutely don’t need one. Book yourself a beach view room, and your front door is about 10 meters away from the ocean. And if you book a standard room, the island is so small and quaint, you’ll never be more than a 60-second walk away from the beach or swimming pool.
For lunch, Beach Bar stole our hearts – and stomachs! Situated (as you may have guessed) right on the shoreline, sit back and enjoy and ice cold bottle of Chateau d’Angles whilst tucking into freshly caught seafood and light salads.
At night, the same restaurant transforms into a bbq and grill, with a wider selection of food.
Eriyadu has one of the best diving reefs in the Maldives, so, naturally, we all picked up some scuba gear and paddled out into the sea for a day of stunning snorkeling. This island is a diver’s paradise, so I highly recommend if you’ve got your PADI license.
Smartline Eriyadu is a charming, simple, unpretentious and honest hotel. It’s extremely well priced for those looking not to splash too much cash, it’s easily accessible and the staff just don’t come friendlier, nicer or more willing to help. We had the most pleasant stay here and I can’t wait to go back.
