And by ‘evening brunch’, I do essentially mean an all-you-can-eat-and-drink dinner.
Set on the idyllic rooftop atop Four Seasons hotel is Mercury Lounge, an upscale dining and watering hole, which also happens to play host to a great Thursday evening brunch.
With stunning panoramic views of Dubai’s skyline, the restaurant’s Mediterranean-style all-you-can-eat-and-drink dinner (which only costs Dhs295 per head, I hasted to add) serves a four course selection of the chef’s signature dishes. We started with antipasti – think mini hotdogs, beef carpaccio and fresh salad – before moving onto the spirulina, seaweed and achtivated charcoal risotto – a dish that might scare you off by the sounds and colour of it, but is actually totally delicious. The third course is an array of meats and fish; grilled prawns, calamari, chicken and steak with side dishes of salad, hummus and a relentless pool of garlic sauce. Dessert was a sweet little array of treats, including strawberry and coconut macaroons, mini cheesecakes, mini mango mouse in an ice cream cone and the most delicious chocolate fondant with a caramel sauce to drizzle over your entire helping.
The house pour at the Thursday evening brunch at Mercury Lounge is either a Pinot Grigio or Rioja – we chose the later – which is free-flowing all night long. Beer is also included, should wine not take your fancy. There is a brilliant live jazz band who journey up and down the restaurant, serenading you at your table and playing well-known songs from the likes of Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Magic and plenty more.
