How to Style Knee High Boots (Without Looking Like A Hooker)

Welllllllllll that’s a slightly controversial blog title if I’ve ever written one…

No but seriously, the negative connotations around these kind of boots is real. (And to blame Julia Roberts’ iconic choice of footwear in Pretty Woman seems somewhat unmerited, after-all, thigh highs have a raunchy reputation of their own!)  When I first told my sister I wanted to buy a pair of over-the-knee boots and they were high heeled, her face was more shocked/disgusted than I care to admit… And I actually wore these boots out last weekend, for someone (a man, obviously) to call them “fuck-me-now” boots – yeah. THAT happened.

However, this season, there’s been a total upswing in the popularity of these shoes – regardless of their lascivious connotations -, and I think my turning moment was Ariana Grande circa 2014 MTV Awards *girl crush*.

But now I’ve finally got my hands on the perfect pair (from my faves at Public Desire) and I’ve decided to style three outfits to show you how, in my opinion, one can avoid crossing the line from stunning to striptease. So stay tuned over the next couple of week for more thigh high inspo!
