Island Hopping Part 3: Galle, Sri Lanka

Being a complete beach baby, this was unsurprisingly my favourite part of the trip.

After Ella, we embarked on anotherrrrrr 5 hour drive down south to Galle where we stayed at Era Beach by Jetwing in Unawatuna. This has been one of my favourite hotels I have ever stayed in in my whole life. It was more of a boutique hotel, because it only has 7 rooms, so we decided to treat ourselves and upgrade to an suite…because why not?

The rooms were gorgeous: HUGE beds, high ceilings, quiet, loads of space, loads of privacy, rose petals on the bed, 5pm turn down, incredible food (with the option of breakfast in bed) – the works. (I have been to France about 20 times in my life and still have never had croissants as good as I did at Era Beach Hotel). If you want to spoil yourself and you’re after a bit of luxury then I can’t recommend this place enough.

Tropical island weather means rain. So on a not-so-sunny day, we went into Galle and treated ourselves to a couples massages, shopping, exploring the fort and dinner in the form of 10 dishes of curry *drool*.

Galle to Colombo is also the only route in Sri Lanka where a proper motorway has been built (lol), which makes it really accessible from the airport, so if any of you are thinking of a long weekend getaway, I would recommend Galle because its minimum hassle and maximum amazing-ness.12038131_914400515282062_2987308693289956240_n
