I know, I know, you’re probably bursting with questions about that zappy-laser-machine-thing from Instagram. Well, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s everything you need to know about the carbon laser facial at Nova Clinic.
What does it do?
The laser works to treat active acne as well as reduce the appearance of superficial scars. The more sessions you have (the recommended amount is 4 – 6), the more the collagen synthesises around the pores, which creates a tight seal around their opening, helping your pores to stay minimised (you can see why I went chose this treatment!).
How does it work?
After your therapist (I really recommend Jessica) has removed all the impurities from your pores and your skin is totally bare, the carbon powder (aka the black stuff) is applied on the area you want to treat. The carbon penetrates deep into the pores, allowing the laser to target the skin more effectively. The laser zaps all the carbon away, exfoliating the skin beautifully and causing the pores to collapse.
Does it hurt?
In short? No. It sounds and looks a lot scarier than it is. Your skin might go a bit red afterwards, but that’s totally normal and nothing a cold flannel can’t fix!
