I can’t believe this is the first time I have been to La Serre.
Placed on the corner of the Vida Downtown Hotel (yes, that means La Serre boasts both valet parking and an alcohol license), overlooking the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, the restaurant is set over two floors (the top being the fancier half, where the alcohol is served). We’d booked in for lunch at the bistro and boulangerie downstairs, and took our window seats at the huge glass front, in the shadow of the Burj Khalifa.
Whilst the lunch menu didn’t really have a designated entrée section, we ordered a creamy burrata, a caramelised onion quiche and a basket of bread to kick off the meal. More than happy with our delicious choice of starters, we then moved onto mains, where we opted for French classics – a savoury crêpe (smoked turkey ham, Emmental cheese and bechamel sauce) and lamb cutlets, both of which were absolutely divine. I was tres impressed with everything La Serre had to offer, and next time I will definitely be booking my table upstairs to take advantage of their well curated wine menu, which actually features a small selection of my dad’s brands!
