2015: My Year in Books (so far…)

I don’t understand people who don’t read. Like, who are you? Are you ok in life? What do you do with your time?

Whilst I may not be an avid a reader as my sister and my dad, who put me to shame by reading a new book every week, but with all my time I dedicate to lying horizontal by a pool, in my bed on Saturday morning (or night) with a cup of tea, wasted time spent waiting for a flight, train or bus, a book is just a necessity.

Yes it may only be July, but with summer coming up, and all the closet-readers about to come out of their caves, I thought it a rather apt time to share the titles I’ve read, the ones I’ve got to look forward to, and the ones I haven’t even bought yet.

Hopefully, at the very least, I will give you some reading inspo for summer. And your comments will also aid me on my next trip to the bookshop!

So far…

3/5 – It took me two attempts to finish this book and I’m still undecided. Learned a fair bit about chemical testing on animals though…

4/5 – Yes, I know, who hasn’t read this book? It’s a ridiculously easy read, but also one of those can’t-put-it-down stories.

4/5 – I identified and enjoyed this mainly because the protagonist reminds me so much of my dad and sister – if you read it you’ll know exactly what I mean. And extra points for being a pretty funny read.

1/5 – Just don’t ever spend your money on this book. Mysterious boy moves in next to bubbly girl, they hate each other at first, then fall in love. That is literally all there is to it. NEXXXT!

4/5 – Book > film.

4/5 – I’m not going to lie, I don’t like Alexa Chung at the best of times and when I heard this was her ‘guide to being an “it” girl’, it was a swift eye roll and mentally putting the book at the bottom of my ‘to read’ list. But then I picked it up in a shop the other day and started flicking through the pages to find that it wasn’t a guide at all. In fact, it is a book of memoirs, mostly about her style icons that have helped shape her career. And, for me, when a book opens on a double page spread on the spice girls, it’s going straight in my trolley.

TBC/5 – I started reading this because I was at my boyfriend’s house, and I had just finished my old book and had nothing to read, so I wouldn’t exactly say I started reading this by choice. I am about a quarter of the way through, and haven’t quite made up my mind (the cover’s pretty cool though, right?). What I will say is everyone is Scottish………….soooooo I’ll let you know how that goes………………..

Coming up…

Whether it’s on the bookshelf, in the hands of my sister or still in the plastic bag on my bedroom floor, these are the books that are ready and waiting in my house, and are top of my to-do list!

On my wish-list…

Ok fine, so this list is mostly just fashion literature litter. But with so many memoirs, style guides, fictional tales and how-to’s – can you blame me?! My birthday is not till December, but if any of y’all fancy hooking a hunny up this summer, I’ll pay you in friendship and baked goods.

As a reader I know how much of a struggle that is, as a writer, I’d love it if you took the time to check out my small blog. Atm its mainly short stories, and I’m working on a novel. Hopefully that could be your next read once it’s finished up (Prologue on my blog). Feel free to check out my blog, any feedback is more than appreciated
