Nestled away in DIFC is the sweetest little Italian trattoria specialising in – yep, you guessed it: ravioli!
Homegrown concept Ravioli & Co. has recently opened its doors in Dubai’s financial district – Burj Daman, to be exact – and pasta lovers are in for a real treat.
Furnished with aged wooden tables, antique accessories and traditionally rustic decor, the restaurant temporarily transports you to a tiny trattoria that you’d expect to find on the streets of Torino or Bologna. We took our seats on terrace (making the most of that Dubai winter weather) and our lovely waiter Vini brought us some traditional Italian cocktails to kick off the evening.
We tucked into the fritto misto (deep-fried mozzarella, asparagus, meat balls and baby artichokes) and the sformatino con toma e porcini (puff pastry filled with tomatos, muchrooms and swimming in a pool of melted cheese).
Mains wouldn’t be anything other than a bowl of their signature ravioli, which is made fresh from scratch every morning. Ed had lamb-stuffed pasta and I had the chicken, leek, mushroom and black truffle ravioli. Vini, totally registering my unrequited love affair with truffles, insisted we tried the black truffle gnocchi, which also came swimming in a pool of melted cheese – a total game changer.
