It’s nights like last night where I have those little ‘pinch me’ moments.
I live across the road from the Burj Al Arab; I see it every day. But still, all these years later, I haven’t desensitised myself to it, and it’s still one of the those buildings I’m forever in awe of. So when my little old blog gets me an invite to the hottest new terrace opening in town, it gives me all the warm fuzzies.
Scape Restaurant & Bar is the Burj Al Arab’s new seaside eatery, which boasts chic ‘Californian-inspired’ beach vibes. In the day, Scape is home to a new restaurant, two pools, a beach and 32 air conditioned cabanas (which I’m told will set you back Dhs1,000 to use for the day), but for the opening night we set up camp on the sand-coloured floors of the wooden decking, over looking the endless ocean. We sipped on Burj Al Arab’s logo-clad coconuts, Moet, Whispering Angel and another rather Instagrammable cocktail, and nibbled on canapes of mini tacos, truffle mac and cheese and mini avocado ice cream cones. The terrace itself is huge and stunning, and I cannot wait to go back and dine al fresco now the weather is starting to cool down!
