Trump International Golf Club has opened the doors to its 42 million square foot property, which boasts a collection of four sophisticated restaurants, including The Terrace.
But before we get to the delicious food and stunning interiors, let’s tackle the nitty gritty task of actually getting to the golf course, which took me 1 hour 30 minutes. No seriously… Located in Damac Hills, which is somewhere behind Arabian Ranches, I had the misfortune of trying to find this place at night. The entrance lies at the end of an unpaved road, where there are no sign posts or street lights leading the way, so it’s highly likely you will be driving up and down Hessa Street or Umm Sequim Street for the better part of an hour.
When I finally arrived, I was gutted to have missed the sunset, which Ed said was gorgeous. The golf course is pretty much in the middle of the desert, so I can only imagine what a treat it was to feel like you’ve escaped from the city and enjoy tranquility of the sun setting over the dunes.
The Terrace is the all day dining restaurant, serving contemporary American dishes, which overlooks the entire golf course. For starters we tucked into some fresh bread dipped in oil and vinegar, and shared a plate of fresh baby calamari. Mains came around and we got a bit greedy; the head chef, Fernando Galbiat, is Italian, so we couldn’t not try the homemade pizzas! But we were also recommended to try the beef tenderloin and the salmon, so we ordered all three and polished off every single crumb. By dessert I was stuffed, but being the chocolate fiends that we are, Ed and I couldn’t resist the temptation of sharing a slice of chocolate cake, which was also absolutely delicious and got totally demolished. We enjoyed every dish and there wasn’t a morsel of food left in sight. From the waiters to the manager to the chef, the restaurant’s staff were as friendly and attentive as you’d expect from such an exclusive establishment (the club only accepts 100 members at a time!).
Thank you for having us, The Terrace!
