Will I ever tire of a new seafood restaurant? Nope. Case in point? The Fish House.
Located along Dubai Festival City’s waterfront, at the InterContinental hotel, this contemporary new eatery has got my vote for a number of reasons…
Let’s start with the food. I am a fiend for seafood and The Fish House certainly did not disappoint. Starters were a generous tower of all the signature fish dishes: freshly shucked oysters, lobster, octopus, king crab leg, deep-fried prawns and juicy scallops. For mains we tucked into lobster linguine and the spicy hammour on a bed of rice. My favourite dish, however, which I insist you try is The Fish House special: rock salt seabass. Cooked for 40-45 minutes in a cocoon of rock salt, the seabass is then carved and dished out at the table – divine! Wash it down with a bottle of well-priced Washington Reisling and your night has just gone from good to great. The desserts were a mouth-watering myriad of cheesecake, double fudge chocolate brownie and caramelized pineapple ravioli. However the piece de resistance was the rock salt seabass.
The Fish House also wins major points in the sustainability department. All the seafood is locally-sourced and ethically farmed from a sustainable fish farm in Jebel Ali.
The space is imbued with splashes of ocean blues and green, photographs of local fishermen hung on the wall and a gorgeous bar to plonk yourself at, should you just be visiting for drinks and nibbles. The downside? The location. Festival City is a bit of a ballache to get to, but trust me when I say it’s worth the journey. You won’t be disappointed!
