All my blood orange dreams came true this summer when I was invited up to Aperol HQ in London’s The Shard to check out where the magic happens.

After months of social media Spritz spam, Ben, the national account manager who also happens to be an old uni chum (small world, I know!), finally gave in and let me into the cocktail haven I’ve been dreaming about. Ahead, a sneak peek into what we got up to at Aperol HQ (spoiler alert: it involved drinking), a few facts you may not have known about the popular bevvy, and the new drink-to-know that’s launching globally in September.

It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3 – literally.

It’s owned by Campari…

It’s been around since 1919, making next year the brand’s 100th birthday…

It’s on track to be bigger than Pimms in the UK by 2019…

After World War II, the Germans and Austraians moved to Italy and used to dilute their Aperol and Campari with soda and prosecco because they were too bitter. The word ‘spritz’ literally means ‘injection’ in German – i.e. an injection of bubbles and sweetener)….
