Paradise awaits at The Residence Maldives…
An exclusive retreat nestled away on Falhumaafushi, just an hour-long domestic flight from Malé, is The Residence Maldives. Situated on an island located in the Gaafu Alifu atoll, one of the largest and deepest atolls in the world, this hotel boasts pure, unabashed luxury.
Making the most of our blissful stay, we spent our first night in an over-water pool villa and woke up every morning looking out into the blue lagoon where the endless ocean meets the cloudless skies. The water villa rooms are the most expensive accommodation the property has to offer, but so, so worth splurging on for at least one or two nights.
You’d be forgiven for spending your whole time at your private pool in a lazy, prosecco-induced haze, but when the view is this good, who’s complaining?
When we managed to pull ourselves away from the pristine turquoise waters, we hopped on our bicycles and headed into the heart of the resort to have a look around and check out the restaurants. For dinner, we set up camp at the seafood grill on the beach. Under the stars, we sipped on wine and ate our body weight in freshly caught fish.
In the morning, we started our day with sunrise yoga before tucking into the handsomely stocked breakfast buffet.
The Residence Maldives has a tonne of water sports and excursions on offer, and we tried everything from a dolphin trek to snorkeling and paddle boarding.
On our second night, we checked into the beach pool villa – a cheaper option than the water villa, but equally as picturesque.
Just when we thought we couldn’t relax any more, we discovered the first and only Spa by Clarins in the Maldives. The three of us piled into the private over-water spa rooms and zonked out for hour whilst enjoying a treatment.
We spent the afternoon at the sun-drenched pool bar having a spot of lunch and sinking Aperol Spritz after Aperol Spritz.
We love you, The Residence Maldives! Can’t wait to come back…
