If there’s one thing you need to do in Florence, it’s book a wine tour and tasting at the amazing Antinori Chianti Classico.
The Antinori family have been making wine since 1385, and are one of the most well known and respected wine makers in Italy. We headed about 30 mins outside Florence to the impressive Antinori estate, where the team showed us round the vineyards and the cellars before taking us to a private room overlooking hundreds of ageing barrels of wine, and we sipped on four different delicious wines. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and are happy to answer any of the hundred questions you’re sure to have about Antinori Chianti Classico.
After the tasting, we booked a table at the winery’s stunning restaurant Rinuccio 1180, which overlooks the vineyards. The setup was charming and made for the perfect Italian lunch; flora and fauna cascaded around the marquee’s pillars, waiters filled up wine glasses of Antinori grape and food came in abundance, with traditional Italian antipasti dishes in banquet form assembling along the table. If you ever visit, make sure to try the deep fried pasta – yep, that’s actually a thing.
